The Witcher 3 To Get New Game Plus Mode

Are you ready for a second, harder go through of The Witcher 3? Well good then, because developer CD Projekt Red is delivering a New Game Plus mode as their final free DLC for the third installment in their popular dark fantasy series. While they have yet to announce a release date, Community Coordinator Marcin Momot took to the forums to give the fans an idea of what to expect.

Here’s what Mr. Momot had to say:

“Regarding some of the questions that appeared since yesterday, here are the answers.
Enemies will be stronger, obviously.

What carries over?

Player experience (if you’re below level 30 when finishing the vanilla game, you will be bumped to level 30 for the start of NG+), items (excluding: quest items, books & letters, Gwent cards, usable items, trophies), money and alchemy recipes.
When starting New Game Plus you can select any difficulty level.
You can obtain the Death Match achievement when playing the NG+ mode.

What’s the starting level of the character when beginning NG+?

The same that you had when finishing the game, if above 30, otherwise you start at level 30. You also get a free Clearing Potion at the start so you can reset your skills and try a different build.”

New Game Plus modes are often loved for their ability to breathe fresh life into a game that’s been beaten and in danger of landing in dust collector status. This sounds like it will do just that for existing owners, and provide a little extra incentive for those thinking about making a new purchase. We’ll have more updates for you as we get some concrete release times.

**UPDATE** This is live on Xbox One and to be released by tomorrow, 8/18 on PS4 and PC as tweeted today by CM Marcin Momot.

  1. I’m delaying my next playthrough til NG+ is here.

This game made me into a massive witcher fanboy, I absolutely loved it… And I’m reading the books now.

  2. This is quite an awesome addition that I am sure fans will take full advantage of. Particularly useful considering the Gwent collection game was somewhat bugged and some people didn’t get their trophy!
