The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind PC Early Access Begins Today, New Update Released

Early Access for The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind begins today for PC players of the popular MMO from Zenimax Online and Bethesda. Early Access is automatically available for players who purchase the Digital Upgrade or Digital Collector’s Edition Upgrade versions of ESO: Morrowind for PC/Mac any time prior to the expansion’s June 6th launch.

If you are an existing ESO player who has pre-ordered or pre-purchased the physical ESO: Morrowind Collector’s Edition for PC/Mac, you will be able to join Early Access by doing the following:

  1. Log into the ESO Support Portal and fill out the Early Access entry form. You will need to provide proof of pre-order or pre-purchase for your physical PC/Mac ESO: Morrowind Collector’s Edition.
  2. The support team will then grant your account access to ESO: Morrowind for Early Access starting on May 22.
  3. When you receive your physical PC/Mac ESO: Morrowind Collector’s Edition at launch on June 6, you will need to enter the included code to get your Digital Collector’s Edition items and Discovery Pack.

If you do not apply the code included with your physical PC/Mac ESO: Morrowind Collector’s Edition within two days of launch, you will get an email alerting you that you will lose access to ESO: Morrowind content within 24 hours.

The new Morrowind content includes Vvardenfell, the largest landmass addition to the game to date as well as the first new class since the game launched, the Warden. This class is an adaptable, support-orientated option for players who want to be able to fill a specific role while simultaneously providing assistance to others. Also in the expansion are Battlegrounds, a new PvP mode that is focused on small scale, quick battles of teams of 3 or 4 players. Furthermore, you can explore a new 12 player Trial, called Halls of Fabrication that has a Norman and Veteran version. Rounding out the new content are fresh item sets, Motifs, homes and furnishings, collectibles, titles, and dyes. It should be noted that this expansion is being woven into the base game, so you can start a brand new character with a brand new story tutorial set in the new content. Perfect really for vets and newcomers alike.

In conjunction with today’s early access release comes a new patch on PC that brings all you need for compatibility with Morrowind as well as a new base game patch.  The base game patch brings many new updates as well including updates to the Champion System, the Master Writ Merchant, Cyrodiil Rewards, a new Inverse Kinematic System, and bug fixes and general improvements to the overall game. The size of this update is approximately 8.71 GB and you can read the full notes here.

As a result of all of this newness, if you’ve been playing the new content on the public test server in closed beta, you’ll no longer be able to access it anymore. So it’s time to pre-order if you want to keep going! PS4 and Xbox One versions are not eligible for early access but the content is right around the corner, due June 6th on those platforms.

Happy questing! Be sure to let us what you think of all the new stuff in the comments and keep our wiki bookmarked and ready especially our New Player Guides if you’re just getting started!
