Rumor: Data Miner Claims Dark Souls 3 DLC 2 Name Revealed

According to YouTube creator Sanadsk, some datamining of Dark Souls 3‘s files has revealed the potential name of the game’s second and final DLC.

Taking a look through the game’s files, he came across a line labeled: DLC2_MIYAKONOMOUJA. Miyako no Mouja is Japanese and translates to City of the Dead or Dead Capital. Without the kanji it’s tough to be completely certain because as many kanji share the same sounds, you can say something that sounds one way but infers another through the symbols. This is a start however and should allow for enough speculation.

If it is City of the Dead or a variation along that theme, it’s possible we are going to be making a visit to Londor, which some have speculated and hoped for. This make sense given the characters in the game connected to the land such as Yuria, Elfriede, and Yoel and how prominently they feature in the game’s story. Perhaps we’ll be seeing some dark themed weapons, armor and spells to compliment our builds.

Ashes of Ariandel was the most recent DLC to release, all the way back in October and we’re anxiously awaiting confirmation of when this second one will drop. We’ll be sure to report as soon as it’s announced. As always, keep checking in with us for updates and news on Dark Souls 3 and more!

Can we start the hype train now? And quick question. Not to take translations literally but does Yuria or Yoll ever refer to Londor as "city of the dead"? Or anything similar? Is that an older reference to New Londo or Anor Londo?

  2. Avatar Shadeon says:

It’s another trick. The next DLC will be a ginormous blightown that takes place on a remote island that has nothing to do with anything, and all bonfires are mimics.

  3. Avatar dn1nd says:

Sounds Like Another Theme With Sisters. I’m guessing we will fight the third Sister.

Something I would Like to see is That given the name of the area being City Of The Dead, that there is a Connection to Nito Somehow. But I doubt there will be one.

Here’s to hoping we finally get a Boss Fight against a Primordial Serpent too.

  4. Avatar EldritchImagination says:

I had an idea about bonfire mimics a long time ago.

  5. Avatar TSMP says:

Eh. Until I see real stuff like screenshots or a trailer, I don’t feel like anything is different. We all saw this coming months ago, right?

I don’t remember them ever referring to Londor as "city of the dead", but it is called a city of hollows (much like New Londo was). There are lots of connections in DaS3 tying Londor to New Londo, but not so much to Anor Londo.

Ehh… I saw Kaathe’s unused attack animations in DaS1. Maybe not so much…

  6. Avatar dn1nd says:

It Depends On if they Overhaul those Attacks.

Another Possibility Is Having a ramped up Soul of Cinder type of Fight by Fighting multiple Lords of Hollows.

I have to stop myself before I start Wildly Speculating.

  7. Avatar TSMP says:

Nonsense! We know nothing, except for the fact that information is coming eventually. This is the perfect time for wild speculation.

If it is City of the Dead …

    undead burg?

  10. Avatar Shadeon says:

Same; I kept attacking bonfires my first playthrough hoping I’d catch one. Made me realize they’re are few things that catch me off guard now in these games.

  11. Avatar Poprocky7 says:

I actually speculated in my own head that the third dlc might take place in Londor which might be the future New Londo

  12. Avatar Poprocky7 says:

Oh shoot if we are going to New londo the entrance might be in the Firelink area because in Dark souls 1 you went down that elevator then boom you are there. I would think the entrance would be in Dark Firelink where you can see the ground below in Champion Gundye’s boss room.

    Holy shit.

(Thread with ideas about the last DLC)

I made this like 2 months ago, speculating a connection between Londor and Nito/the dead. Who knows, maybe From has read it? My prayers have been answered!

Whether the dlc is new londo something with the abyss, dragons or what ever; I hope it has a really really hard optional boss fight.

Lord knows it wouldn’t be the main boss fight but I’m really hoping for a boss that makes me tear my hair out and I can’t simply out level only get gud.

  15. Avatar lordnoah says:

i remember that in some of the japanese gameplays before ds3 launch someone refered to the undead as mouja so undead capital wouldn’t be a horrible translation either

  16. Avatar BWO_RazrSrorm says:

    Please be a londor dlc
    please be a londor dlc
    please be a londor dlc
    please be a londor dlc

Also hoping we get to see a toothy serpent again. Miss them.

  17. Avatar skarekrow13 says:

The first DLC was clearly them writing a digital love letter to me. Let’s see:

-Absurd amount of krow enemies? Check
-Numerous instances of these krows being "skared?" Also check
-Signature weapon 1 is krow based? Check
-Signature weapon 2 is based off the great scythe, my signature weapon? Check
-Entire DLC in winter area, with me being the self proclaimed Lord of Winter? Check
-Heavy Norse mythology influence right after my rune deciphering project? Check

It’s pretty obvious they’re stalking me and making content based off of my life and teachings.

So then the next DLC will be based off another community member. All we have to do is figure out who that is and we should be able to make some logical assumptions.

If it’s a Cas based DLC we should expect a lot of enemies hiding under desks and in lockers for instance. A Fex DLC would be full of cats and mobs being whipped by other mobs. And so forth…

    Fex dlc sounds perfect.
‘Felines of the First Flame’ is worth buying on premise alone.

  19. JayantB says:

I’ve been thinking about the whole theme of Dark Souls 3. It centres around the ‘decay’ of every thing, every process of nature that goes on in the game and has been going on since DKS 1.
It gives us a huge hint that Miyazaki himself didn’t want to do this game, but was pressured by From Software to make it, owing to fan’s obssession with DKS 1, 2 and what not.
Everybody was already expecting a Dark Souls 3 to follow up to DKS 1 by early-mid 2015.

So my expectation from this DLC won’t be much, it’ll just be a wrap-up to the previous DLC’s story and will give us another hint or two about what the Dark/Deep is, and how it is involved in the decay of natural processes. It will most likely feel like Miyazaki just wanted to be done with this damn game and then get working on his current interest.

The whole ‘flame is dying out’ thing is from software trying to tell us that their own interest in this series is dying out/dead.

It might also tell us why there are so many hollows in one particular place ( Londor I guess, going by the ‘city of the dead’ thing).

  20. Avatar Nahztek-Shadowpath says:

I agree with this except for one thing.
Miyazaki is the president of From Software, so I doubt there was much pressure. Reluctance maybe. But it’s not like anyone made him do anything.

  21. Avatar Nescient says:

    deep infused post/10.

  22. MaxDeltree says:

If I’m not mistaken, he wasn’t the president when development of Dark Souls 3 began. But I think he also didn’t really start Dark Souls 3, and only came into it after Bloodborne was done.

  23. hayward1985 says:

I haven’t even gone through Ashes of Ariandel yet, just on my second play through to get it done!

  24. Avatar Shadeon says:

Take your time; it’ll be over too soon.

  25. Avatar Grehym_Blak says:

For the love of Gwyn, can they just drop the first teaser already! They’ve been made, the cat’s out of the bag, you been got FROM…now give us what we want! The boards need it…they’re currently the equivalent of a weather conversation with a stranger on the elevator.
