Square Enix and Platinum Games have released a 27 minute video of uncut Nier: Automata gameplay that shows off several of the game’s systems. Have a seat and enjoy the show:
Humanity has been driven from the Earth by mechanical beings from another world. In a final effort to take back the planet, the human resistance sends a force of android soldiers to destroy the invaders. Now, a war between machines and androids rages on… A war that could soon unveil a long-forgotten truth of the world.
The video explores some of the more interesting features in the game, such as its well written quests, your robot assistants called PODs, skills which take the form of Plug-in Chips that you can freely install and remove from your android character, as well as the Reliquary System which is Nier: Automata’s spin on handling player death where players can return to their bodies for buffs or repair them to gain a new ally. Also shown were rideable animal mounts in action and some mini-game fun in fishing.
NieR: Automata releases March 7th for the PS4 in NA and March 10th in EU, and PC release is also due as well. We’ve been playing the Japanese release and have been exploring everything it has to offer, including its multiple possible endings (26!) and more and getting it all in the wiki. Give it a look if you’re spoiler friendly or make sure to bookmark it for when the game is out worldwide!
