New Nioh Screens Tease PvP, New Skins & More from Next Week’s DLC

Some new screenshots from this week’s Famitsu magazine tease some of the content that is coming with next week’s Dragon of the North DLC for Team Ninja’s PS4 exclusive Nioh. The DLC and accompanying update releases May 2nd for players and includes new content as well as adds PvP to the game. Check them out:

The screens themselves tease some new content that is coming in the update such as:

  • New transformations that will let you equip skins of Fuku, Tome, Ginchiyo and Okatsu
  • New guardian spirits and NPCs
  • 1v1 and 2v2 PvP (part of the free update), shown in the dojo setting, which is where we were anticipating the competitive mode to take place.

There is no doubt we will be hearing more leading up to next week’s release of the DLC which will add new weapons, bosses, missions and more to the acclaimed samurai RPG. For and in depth look at our thoughts on the game, check out our review! Thoughts on the DLC and the upcoming PvP? Let us know in the comments!

I initially wanted an Okatsu skin, but then played the game so much that I would find it hard using anyone that I encounter in-game. I don’t want to ever fight beside my doppelgänger.

But I always liked Tome with her eyepatch. I’m thinking if we get some kind of large sword, I might go with Tome since you just see her in the Blacksmith. That’s not immersion breaking at all.

But it really depends. I’ve managed to make 5 pretty unique characters so far. If the dlc gives me some more masks, to hide all image of William, I might have to pass. And I’ve been tempted to use the Kursar master also.

And the new weapons will have new masters to unlock as well, I imagine. But if I get anything new like the Vengeance, Tengu demon, and Nue mask, the disguises won’t have a chance.

But I’ll still see them in co-op and that will be good enough to add some variety.

  2. Oh. As far as i see/understand, this PvP won’t be an invading thing, but more like an Arena-PvP in the Dojo. If that’s the Case i’m happy about this Concept and don’t mind to give it a try. Otherwise i would’ve set my game to offline to enjoy this Game further…

  3. I’m a little partial to that blacksmith girl. I see her every hour or so every time I play. She’s so friendly.

  4. Hopefully, PVP won’t have the phantom range issues that DS has. I could see myself really getting into if that isn’t a thing.

Either way, I’m not too worried. I got it for the actual game anyway and could really care less about PVP in it. But that could change depending on how things pan out.

  5. Well, that’s looking good. Hopefully they tone down damage scaling in PvP, if not a parry will equal death.
