Capcom has revealed a series of 14 short videos for Monster Hunter World that each show one of the game’s different weapon types.
Monster Hunter World Weapons Videos
There’s a vast range of unique weapons for players to choose from, whether they’re new to the hunt or already a seasoned veteran. Each weapon type has a different overall playstyle and characteristics which are showcased in the videos. Swords and blades can be useful in cutting damage and executing fast paced attacks, impact weapons like hammers can cause high damage and stun opponents while ranged weapons such as bowguns allow you to attack beasts from afar. If the hunt is too overwhelming, support style weapons can be very useful such as the hunting horn which plays melodies that provide buffs for the team.
Depending on the type of foe and quest goals, it may prove useful to change gear mid-quest back at base camp. Players are never locked into one weapon type so they should keep different options on hand.

As you can see the new game is going to retain the trademark variety of the series and will give players plenty of options to choose from when determining their preferred playstyle. There is everything from up close and personal to ranged, to defensive and the unique. Each has a strength and a drawback and will have to be carefully selected depending on the type of monster you’re hunting.
Furthermore, Capcom has launched a contest to design a weapon for the game. The deadline to submit your concept is August 16th at 9 PM PST. You can check out the entry details here.

Three very fine choices. Those are some of my favorites and the previous games didn’t even have half of these crazy moves.
I’m really happy with these additions. They make my favorites even better and make other types, like the heavy bowgun, look really fun.
I wonder what they’re planning with the 15th weapon we see in the gameplay videos. Also, this create-a-weapon contest sounds awesome. I hope they get a ton of really good ideas so they add a bunch of weapons.
I think I am in love. I am defintely going to use the Charge Blade once this game is out.
Yeah the insect glaive is pretty on point with its moveset.
Bow, charge blade and insect glaive actually look really fun. The rest looks either very generic or too small to be credible. but those three…I would actually think of giving it a shot!
