Final Fantasy XV Goes Gold, DLC Details Revealed & New CG Trailer

Presenting at Paris Games Week, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XV has gone gold, meaning it’s finalized and on to press for its November 29th release on PS4 and Xbox One. This comes as great news to those who have followed its long development process.

Furthermore, Square spoke about the DLC plans for the game, and the work that is being put into it. The game will feature a 24.99 USD Season Pass that includes 3 individual episodic stories, where players can take on the role of main character Noctis‘ 3 other party members: Prompto, Ignis and Gladiolus. Through their eyes players can explore their stories and gameplay seeing new areas and earning new equipment and weapons that can be used in the base game. Episode Gladiolus will launch first, followed by Episode Ignis and Episode Prompto. If you want to learn more about the party’s dynamics and backstory check out the party feature we recently wrote. There you can also watch the episodes of the Brotherhood anime which explored their relationships. You like concept art? Who doesn’t? Check out some for the episodes:

An expansion pack called Comrades will follow these episodes, and will introduce online multiplayer for 4 players! The expansion will introduce new intense battles letting players explore the party dynamics. As with the 3 story episodes, it will be available standalone or included in the Season Pass.

But wait, there’s more! There’s always more. Topping everything off was the teased Omen, which is a brand new CG mini-film made with the creators of the Kingsglaive movie. Check out the slick video below:

If there’s one thing we can count on about Final Fantasy, is that they know how to put on a visual production. Give that trailer a look and try not to be captivated. November is right around the corner, so you can bet the hype train will be full steam ahead. Swept up in it? Let us know what you think in the comments!

  1. No, not on the hype train. Shockingly i actually like traditional JRPGs (with no fewer than 4 being in my personal top 10) and have very little interest in mission based open-world collectathon multiplayer action game especially with the problems that open world games have with pacing and how that can kill a linear story. It does not help that the combat looks suspiciously like KH combat, which I really don’t like because even if the game requires you to do something other than mash x (which KH does not) it’s not a system I find the least bit entertaining (and there are better ways to allow the same number of commands without the clunky interface.)

It might end up being everything I didn’t know i wanted, but I’m not holding my breath.
