Final Fantasy XV – A retrospective look at over 8 years of development

It is a commonly known gaming pop culture fact that Final Fantasy XV has been in development for a very, very long time. It was originally announced at E3 2006 as Final Fantasy XIII Versus as a PlayStation 3 exclusive.  But now nearly nine years, a title change and a whole console generation later, much has changed. A Final Fantasy fan, Taylor Hoyte, has spent several months researching and collecting all the information from those long eight years of mostly barren wilderness to look at what happened to, what now is, the latest title in the long running franchise by Square Enix and has posted this informative video that both fans and casual observers will glean knowledge from.

Now know as Final Fantasy XV (as revealed by Square Enix at E3 2013) the title has been coming along very swiftly in the last year and has been showcased extensively by Square Enix and new director of Final Fantasy XV, Hajime Tabata. With a playable demo, Episode Duscae, scheduled to release at the end of March and with confirmation that development was well over halfway complete, there appears to be a rapidly growing light at the end of the very long tunnel for this long suffering game.
