On September 15, Larian Studios launched Divinity: Original Sin 2, the anticipated sequel to the 2015 critically acclaimed, Divinity: Original Sin.
Since its release, the latest game from the developer has seen massive success from new players and returning fans. On Steam the title currently has a “Very Positive“ rating from 5,546 user reviews.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 Sales Milestone!
In line with this, Larian Studios recently unveiled that their Isometric CRPG, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is fast approaching 500,000 copies sold. CEO, Swen Vincke seems happy with the new sales milestone. In comparison, the original game took a few months to reach this number.
“It is fantastic, but it is also way beyond what we expected. We’re close to hitting 500K units sold which is a number I believe took us two or three months with Divinity: Original Sin 1.“
When asked if a console version for the game could be green-lit based on the success of Divinity: Original Sin 2 on PC, though no clear answer was provided, he did mention that the team is already working on the game’s next patch:
“As for the console versions, we’re now focused on delivering our first patch for the PC version, something that is scheduled for this week. Lots of players means lots of support issues coming in and we’re trying to service them as fast as we can. After that, it’ll be a long well deserved break for the team and then we’ll boot up our machines again to work on the next things.”
Another milestone Divinity: Original Sin 2 has reached, would be its over 85K concurrent users on release day, which breaks the Steam record for CRPGs.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is currently available for the PC platform via Steam and GOG.
Besides achieving milestones, Larian Studios is hard at work on fixing any issues with the game and has recently put out a hotfix for a save issue some players have been experiencing.
