  • Temple of the Firstborn
  • The Realms of Fate

Challenge Rifts are a weekly opportunity to try a totally new build, receive a reward for your efforts, and compete with other players on a level playing field. They rotate every Monday giving players a weekly challenge to tackle by completing a copy of a Greater Rift using the build of the character who cleared it with some loot rewards. The Shrouded Moors and Temple of the Firstborn are the 2 new zones in the game and they can be explored in Adventure Mode through a new waypoint on the Act 2 map. The Temple of the Firstborn will take players on a lore history of the game and bring things full circle. Finally The Realms of Fate are 4 new zones that are seamlessly connected via fractures which appear as waypoints in Act 4.

In addition there are a host of changes coming with the patch, and you can tab over at the top of this article to read the full notes.

Will this be the last hurrah of new content for Diablo 3? The game has had some serious legs for Blizzard, entertaining fans for 5 years now, and many wonder how soon we will see Diablo 4. Regardless, the Rise of the Necromancer and new patch have given fans a variety of new content to loot around with for the immediate future. Playing Diablo 3 and its new DLC this week? Silly me, I wasn’t expecting this until 5pm for some reason. Got some bad info from another site, but thanks to you I’m downloading it right now.

Yay that’s what I’m here for. That’s why I added the subsequent times for every region so you’d know right away when you could grab it.

i’ve downloaded the patch yesterday night
    I think today i’ll buy the pack….
Except for the new class i want the new areas and i want those damn cool wings :00011:
Anyway, i’ll obviously try the new class as well

About the patch 2.5 and 2.6, which removed the duplication items glitch….well, it’s not entirely removed ^^
I’ve discoverd a glitch for duping items between characters on the same account XD

So, a tip for the Necromancer,

The Skeleton Mage skill with Gift of Death rune is freaking amazing, not just for damage but also as an enabler for just about all of the class’s strategies. The key thing here is that it can be cast even while you’re casting another skill, meaning you can pop off a steady stream of them without ever letting go of your primary skill. That’s how I found out the unit cap for them is 10, by the way (they have a lifespan of eight seconds, so I was casting more than one per second). They push out good damage on their own, but their main worth is as a steady supply of fresh corpses against powerful single enemies like bosses or to soften up a crowd while you get a good Revive horde up and running, setting you up to throw out a whole lot of burst damage with Corpse Lance. By the way, Revive and whatever the name of that "eat corpses for essence" skill was are two others that can be cast without interrupting other animations, which helps a lot while trying to keep bodies on the field. I’ve found that the Skeleton Mage + Gift of Death skill is a reliable enough source of corpses that I don’t need other corpse generators, even when I’m using all four corpse skills and nothing else.

Another fun strategy I found is to throw a corpse golem at something to put 8 bodies there, use the Army of the Dead skill with Death Valley rune to pull every enemy onto that point, then blow ’em to bits with Corpse Explosion. Now if only Army of the Dead and Land of the Dead didn’t have freaking two minute cooldowns. That’s just absurd, those skills are great but not when you can’t use them. The Necro suffers a bit for not having any other way to group enemies, and Land of the Dead might be 10 seconds of omnipotence but even omnipotence isn’t worth much if you can’t ever use it.

If anyone was worried about the Necro being too similar to the Witch Doctor, I don’t think there’s any need to worry about it at all. They might both have pets, but that’s where the similarities end. WD focuses on crowd control like DoTs and de/buffs, whereas Necro is all about burst damage and brief but powerful effects. Necro can’t DoT, and WD can’t burst. Necro’s resource management is also completely different from WD’s, necessitating a different playstyle. I’m not sure if I’m completely comfortable with having paid $15 for it, but I have been enjoying the class so far even if I haven’t found any of its sets or legendaries yet. Literally my only complaint is that Army of the Dead and Land of the Dead need their cooldown time cut in half, desperately. Its two most powerful skills, and I don’t use them at all because more often than not they’re just hogging space on my skill bar. Yeah, WD also has two skills with 120sec cooldown times, but WD has Grave Injustice, Tribal Rites, the Starmetal Kukri, and an entire set devoted to reducing those cooldowns to about 10 seconds. As in, each of those things individually can do that. Maybe the Necro also has items for doing the same thing, but he sure as shit doesn’t have passives for it like WD does. Aside from that though, good fun overall.

A cool build guide on the blog for the Necromancer class might be fun if you’re interested in putting your thoughts down.

  6. Avatar TSMP says:

I’d need to get all the class-specific sets and legendaries before I could even think about doing that. Can’t know things without learning them first, and can’t learn things without trying them.

  7. Avatar Sidney_Losstarot says:

I’ve tried the Necro a bit, actually i’m level 30….for now it’s very funny, but i need to explore the class deeply before say something
I’ll reach the level 70 in a day i think….and then i’ll farm all the sets and legendaries
